Biography: A former member of Delta Force and Los Angeles SWAT, Santa Monica native Jack Bauer is best known as the man who saved the life of President-elect David Palmer on the day of the 2001 Presidential primary. As Special Agent In Charge of the Los Angeles branch of CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit), Jack was responsible for thwarting an attempt on not only Palmer's life, but his own life and agency, within a twenty-four hour period. He was widely regarded as a hero, and has quickly become a legend. (Or an annoyance to anyone who works above him.)

What most people don't know is that his heroic efforts that day ended in tragedy, costing him the life of his wife, Teri, and their unborn child. The fallout from that day changed Jack Bauer forever. He became estranged from his teenage daughter, Kimberly. He lost his mentor and a number of his agents. At one point he contemplated suicide, but his sense of duty kept him from pulling the trigger. Instead, he turned to the only thing he had left: his work at CTU. He resumed his job as Special Agent In Charge, but he was never the same man.

Over the last few years Jack has seen his entire world change. The agents of CTU have left, transferred, or been killed, and crisis after crisis emerges in the Los Angeles landscape. All that remains the same is Jack's steady hand as he oversees CTU, and his willingness to get things done, no matter what the cost. He has already lost what matters most to him; in his eyes, he has nothing left to lose. Which means nothing will stop him.

Note: Jack is being played in an alternate universe following the end of 24 season one, based on RP. Bio here. However, elements of other seasons have been mixed into this canon, so spoilers are still likely. Tread with caution.
